Dress-up Center

I took my old armoire I used for the kids (that was junk and kept falling apart), and turned it into my girls dress up center.

I started with the fabulous Ana-White with her Dress-up center that she got from Craftiness is Not Optional (check them out - they are fabulous!)


OK - anyways - I took the armoire apart - it was going to go to the curb - but since I started adoring Ana White - I looked at it as an opportunity!


I started by first sanding down everything because it was really shiny cheap wood.

Here are some of the other pieces I used.

Then I took two of the drawers - and put 1x2's to connect them. (Oh yeah - first I covered all the holes with putty)

Then I took some leftover bead board - cut to size - and nailed it down.

Another angle of the "drawers" turned base.

Then for the top portion - I took the doors to the armoire - and took a board - measured so it would fit with the bottom.

Here it is taking shape - I trimmed the sides with some leftover trim. and then screwed the dowel (the only thing I purchased for this whole project!)

And tada - here it is!!! I made it for my 3-year old for her birthday. I painted it with a lot of coats of white paint - and used purple vinyl cut with my cricut, the Hannah Montana cartridge.

Here is my little HayHay - I think she likes it. It was adorable - she came up to me when she saw it - mouth wide open. "Mommy! It's beautiful!" How adorable and worth it is that!!!
