I love thrift stores - love them. And from looking at so many blog's I see people take things you wouldn't normally look at - and turn them into something awesome! Over at Cleverly Inspired she had this super cute picture frame turned tray here.
So - I was perusing a thrift store and saw this.
And this. And thought - what can I do to them.
I primed everything - then painted them - but I can't find the pictures :( I take a TON of pictures! If I find them - I'll put them up. Anyways - I spray primed - then spray painted.
On the flour container I taped the top - to keep it white - I wanted to be able to store food in it, and didn't want the paint to be too close to the top.
Then I wrapped the cardboard in wrapping paper left over from christmas.
And - it's done! OK - I am not the best at displaying things - that needs work. There are so many other awesome people that do unbelievable displays. I am working on it.
The top - I switched out the knob with a new knob that I had bought for my daughter that I haven't used yet. Then I took some blue ribbon I had on hand - and wrapped it around the top.
So this whole project cost me $5 - not too shabby! I think they came out cute! I'll work on my staging!

ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call making something not so special into something special and how clever of you to see the possibilities. Sometimes that's where I fall short.
